Notice to Exporters 2011/08 - Publication of Bribery Act Guidance

Notification about publishing of Bribery Act guidance announced by the Justice Secretary, Kenneth Clarke.

The Ministry of Justice have now issued guidelines about the Bribery Act that will come into force on 1 July 2011. The guidance clarifies what constitutes a bribe, outlines the six principles which underpin the purpose of the act and includes a set of case studies to aid interpretation and understanding.

The Bribery Act affects commercial organisations of all sectors and sizes, not just companies who require export licences.

As with export control legislation, the new Bribery Act provides the legal framework within which free markets can flourish.
