Notice to Exporters 2011/12 - New export control legislation concerning Eritrea, Iran and Syria

Details of new statutory orders implemented in UK law in relation to sanctioned destinations.

The Export Control Organisation (ECO) has introduced three new legislative orders which provide for enforcement of certain provisions of the European Union (EU) sanctions on Eritrea, Iran and Syria.

The new legislation is:

  • The Export Control (Eritrea and Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2011 (SI 2011/1296)
  • The Export Control (Iran) Order 2011 (SI 2011/1297)
  • The Export Control (Syria and Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2011 (SI 2011/1304)

If you are an exporter of military and dual-use goods and intend to do business with organisations or entities in Eritrea, Iran or Syria you should be aware of the current sanctions and export licensing policy towards these countries as well as your own legal responsibilities.
