Notice to Exporters 2011/30 - Amendment to Open Licences removing Syria from licensing coverage
Details of amendments being made to Open General Export Licences and the Cryptographci OIEL in conjunction with recent sanctions imposed on Syria. This Notice is issued following Notice to Exporters 2011/29 which advises on the sanctions now in force on Syria as of 1 December 2011.
In conjunction with the imposition of revised sanctions on Syria, the Export Control Organisation have conducted a review of the country coverage of a number of Open Licences.
As a result Syria has been removed from the scope of licensing coverage permitted by the following Open General Export Licences:
- OGEL (Cryptographic Development)
- OGEL (For Repair/Replacement Under Warranty: Dual-Use Items)
- OGEL (Oil and Gas Exploration: Dual-Use Items)
Additionally, the ECO has revised the Cryptographic Open Individual Export Licence to list Syria as an excluded destination.
