This report reviews the classification of the severity of injury of road casualties, including interviews with police officers to understand existing practice, identification of common types of injury sustained using hospital data, and piloting of two alternative approaches to improving the measurement of severity within the police data.   The report provides a recommended list of injuries that could be used in the new electronic collision recording system (CRASH).
