Food hygiene regulations: meat
From 1 January 2006 new food hygiene regulations came into force in all EU Member States. The hygiene regulations replaced 17 directives, including eight relating specifically to meat.

Revocations
With the applications of the new food hygiene regulations, a number of meat related regulations have been revoked. Details of these regulations may be found on the OPSI website at the link below.
The regulations which have been revoked are:

- The Meat Products (Hygiene) Regulations 1994
- The Fresh Meat (Hygiene and Inspection) Regulations 1995
- The Poultry Meat, Farmed Game Bird Meat and Rabbit Meat (Hygiene and Inspection) Regulations 1995
- The Wild Game Meat (Hygiene and Inspection) Regulations 1995
- The Minced Meat and Meat Preparations (Hygiene) Regulations 1995
