The countdown to the London 2012 Olympics continues, and the latest issue of Bite provides a preview of how the FSA and other members of ‘Food Safety Team UK’ are preparing for the Games.
Today, the Agency launched a campaign to let visitors to the Games know how they can ‘Play it safe’ with food during their visit, but our contribution involves much more than offering advice.
Bite reports on how the Agency is training and coaching local authority enforcement officers and providing the best equipment for them to carry out their jobs effectively.
A spokesperson from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games explains how catering businesses are aiming to perform at their peak, and a Department of Health spokesperson outlines what sort of health legacy is hoped for after the Games.
And for sports lovers there are articles on how athletes eat to stay in tip-top condition (including the avoidance of food poisoning). But we also warn potential drugs cheats that they will no longer be able to say: ‘It was something that I ate.’
Read on, and remember to look out for our ‘Play it Safe’ campaign.
