Play it Safe Olympics campaign
The Food Standards Agency is responsible for minimising the risks to food safety during London 2012. As part of this work, it is supporting food inspectors, assisting businesses, and providing information for consumers to help them make informed decisions about where to buy and eat food during the Games.
Food Safety Week 2012: Food safety on a budget
Food Safety Week will take place from 11 to 17 June and the theme is ‘food safety on a budget’. This annual event, held to promote the importance of good food hygiene in the home, will focus on how people can ensure that they keep their food safe when trying to save money.
Ensuring food safety during the Olympic Games
The organisers of next year's Olympic and Paralympic Games estimate that 14 million meals will be served at more than 40 Olympic venues across the UK. The total number of people to feed, and the amount of food required to feed them, make the Games the largest peace-time catering operation in the world.
