New member for ACNFP

A new member of the Agency's expert advisory committee on novel foods and processes has been appointed.
Following the resignation of Hilary Close from the Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes last summer, a recruitment exercise was carried out to appoint a new member. The successful candidate is Jayam Dalal and her term of appointment runs from 1 January 2007 to 31 January 2009.
Jayam Dalal is a freelance marketing consultant and has more than 17 years' experience gained in the sport, leisure and hospitality sector. She was a leisure consultant with Ernst & Young, and thereafter a marketing adviser within the Cabinet Office and Office of Deputy Prime Minister (now DCLG).
She is Vice Chair of the Agricultural Wages Committee (Defra public appointment) and is a Group Diversity Board Member for Places for People Housing Group. She was a Member of the Ethics and Governance Council for the UK Biobank from 2004 to 2006.
Jayam is an Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments Independent Assessor for Public Appointments within the Department of Culture, Media and Sport; Partner within the Women's National Commission and a Member of the Sussex Police Strategic Independent Advisory Group.
Jayam has a strong commitment to equality and diversity and its practical applications to service provision, and consumer representation.
