Heinz recalls Chicken and Mushroom Toast Toppers
Friday 3 November 2006
H J Heinz Co. Ltd has recalled a batch of its Chicken and Mushroom Toast Toppers because of a packaging error, which means the ingredients and allergy information are incorrect.
The Food Standards Agency has issued a food alert for information.
Some tins are labelled as Chicken and Mushroom, but contain the Ham and Cheese topping. They contain mustard, which is not labelled as an ingredient or mentioned in an allergy warning. This product is not safe for people who are allergic to mustard.
Heinz has undertaken a product recall of the affected batch. Product-recall notices will appear in the national press from 4 November and point-of-sale notices will be displayed in relevant stores. These notices will tell customers the reason for the recall and what to do if they have already purchased the affected product.
Heinz is also contacting the Anaphylaxis Campaign and Allergy UK, which will inform their members who are allergic to mustard.
