Farley's rusks withdrawn

Farley's has withdrawn from sale a consignment of Farley's rusks that have been found to contain low levels of a pesticide, chlorpropham.
The levels of chlorpropham are not harmful to health but the affected rusks do not comply with the regulations that set a maximum limit for pesticide residues in infant food.
While they are not considered to be a risk to health, consumers may wish to be aware that the following batches of product are affected:

- Farley's Mini Fruit Bears Orange flavour (multibag); Best before date:15/10/2006 and 17/10/2006
- Farley's Original Rusks (cash and carry); Best before date: 1/07/2007
- Farley's reduced sugar original rusks (cash and carry); Best before date: 01/06/2007
- Farley's reduced sugar original rusks (9's); Best before date: 01/07/2007
- Farley's reduced sugar original rusks (18's); Best before date: 01/06/2007 and 01/07/2007
- Farley's original rusks (9's); Best before date: 01/07/2007
- Farley's original rusks (18's); Best before date: 01/06/2007 and 01/07/2007
- Farley's reduced sugar banana rusk ( 9's); Best before date: 01/06/2007
- Farley's Mini Fruit Bears Apple flavour (multibag); Best before date: 11/10/2006, 12/10/2006, 13 to 15/09/2006
- Farley's Mini Bears with Prebiotic (multibag); Best before date: 19/09/2006 and 20/09/2006

No other products are known to be affected. The affected products have been distributed to retail outlets across the UK and Ireland.
The manufacturer, Farley�s, discovered the problem, which is understood to have involved a batch of flour, and took action to stop the production and distribution of the rusks using this flour.

A You do not need to worry as the levels of the pesticide are very low in the rusks and do not present a risk to health either immediately or in the longer term.
