Caviar labelling leaflet
Wednesday 4 November 2009
A new leaflet giving advice to local authority food law enforcement officers, as well as businesses and consumers, about caviar labelling has been produced by Westminster Council. The Agency is making the leaflet available online for other enforcement teams across the UK.
The leaflet, which can be found at the link below, gives details of the labelling requirements for caviar, including advice about when the country of origin and the country of re-packaging must be declared on the label. It can be used by officers to make sure businesses comply with the labelling rules. Correct labelling helps ensure traceability of the product, and helps combat food fraud.
The leaflet can be printed out on two sides of a sheet of paper and folded. Unfolded, the labelling requirements page can be used as a poster .
