Food Standards Agency Scotland hosts third teachers panel
Friday 5 June 2009
Food Standards Agency Scotland (FSAS) is top of the class when it comes to hosting teachers’ panels.
Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, was the setting for the third panel of teachers from the primary and secondary sector to examine a wide range of educational resources from across the Agency relating to food safety and healthy eating.
The panel of teachers from across Scotland looked at recently developed Food Standards Agency resources from Cardiff, London and Aberdeen.
Scottish teachers are delighted with the range and standard of the resources the Agency is producing and welcomed the opportunity to be part of the panel and to see first hand how resources are tested and how comments are put into practice.
Will Munro (FSAS), who attended for feedback on various food hygiene resources, commented: 'This was an excellent forum, with the facilitators encouraging enthusiastic participation by the teachers to provide open discussion and valuable insight from the professionals who would use these resources. These panels should enable FSAS to target resources effectively and produce practical materials for schools.'
One teacher said about the event: 'A great opportunity to voice our opinions. Previously, on other organisations events, too little opportunity was given to share our views on resources. This was an excellent day – great organisation – ask us again!'
TrickerPR of Aberdeen has been commissioned by FSAS to organise, facilitate and produce comprehensive reports of the panel events until 2011.
