Updates on official controls
Thursday 21 February 2008
The Agency has issued updates on European Regulation 882/2004 on official controls. Comments are sought on developing policy. The guidance for enforcers has also been updated.
Update on developing policy
This is an update on the progress since December 2007 on negotiations at European Union level on European Commission proposals for implementing rules under Regulation 882/2004 on official controls for import controls for 'high-risk' feed and food of non-animal origin.
It includes a copy of the latest version of the draft Commission Regulation and invites comments on this by Friday 29 February 2008.
Update for enforcers
The Agency has updated the Q&A notes for enforcement authorities on the feed and food elements of the EU Regulation on official controls (882/2004).
The Q&A notes, first published in November 2005, are designed to explain the provisions of the regulation and provide informal and non-statutory advice. They are aimed primarily at the enforcement authorities in the UK, but may also provide useful information for the feed and food industries, and for consumers.
No substantive changes have been made to the notes since they were last revised in 2006, but references to legislation, guidance and weblinks have been updated.
