The Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR) has launched a consultation on a new model to create a single admissions process for postgraduate teacher training courses.

The first round of successful bids to the Government’s new £2 million scholarship scheme for teachers was announced today (13 December) by Ministers.

Top universities back drive for new physics teachers

The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA), the Institute of Physics (IOP) and the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) have secured some of the country’s most high profile universities and leading schools to launch a new innovative teacher training programme, which combines physics with mathematics.

2011 Census data 

The 2011 Census data has today (28 November) revealed that there are record numbers of physics teachers training for the classroom.  

Premier Plus 

The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) has recently (on 16 November) launched a new service, Premier Plus, for prospective trainee teachers in maths, physics, chemistry or modern foreign languages (MFL). To be eligible for the service, individuals must have a secured or predicted 2:2 degree classification or higher, and intend to start their training course in the academic year 2012/13.

Initial teacher training implementation plan

The Government has today published the initial teacher training (ITT) strategy implementation plan, aimed at attracting and training the next generation of outstanding teachers.
