Changes to the Standards for England Website
As outlined in the standards provisions of the Localism Act 2011, the regulatory role of Standards for England will cease to exist from 31 January 2012.
This means that, from this date, Standards for England will no longer have powers to accept new referrals from local standards committees or conduct investigations into complaints against members. It also means that our role in providing guidance on the existing standards framework will cease.
As a result please note that - whilst our website address and internet search engine functionality remain available until late February - the information and resources contained on this website will be in the process of being transferred to the National Archives website from 31 January 2012 and will be current up to this date only.
This includes all guidance documents and services, such as our enquiries helpline telephone number and email addresses, online Standards Forum and postal services.
From February our resources will be concentrated on orderly closure of the organisation, expected to happen on 31 March 2012.
Any questions about current and future standards arrangements should be referred to the Local Government Standards team in the Conduct and Council Constitutions Division at the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). They can be contacted via the DCLG switchboard on 0303 444 0000.
