Training designed to help Directors of Children's Services deliver recommendations from the Munro review has been announced.

The training days are designed to support directors with the implementation of recommendations from the Munro Review of Child Protection. They will focus specifically on:

  • Local authorities should review and redesign the way child and family social work is delivered (recommendation 13).
  • Local authorities should designate a Principal Child and Family Social Worker (recommendation 14).

They will run on 16 January 2012 in London, 25 January 2012, in Bristol, 1 February in Birmingham. Two other dates will be held on 8 February in Leeds, and 21 February in London.

A detailed agenda for the training will be sent to attendees nearer the time but places can be reserved by visiting http://www.cwdcouncil.org.uk/social-work/swif/munro-recommendations

CWDC's package of support for Munro also includes £8.5 million funding which is being delivered to all local authorities on behalf of the Department for Education.

Dr Mary Baginsky, Assistant Director of Social Work at CWDC, said:

"The training days will provide advice on guidance on how to use the funding effectively to deliver Professor Munro's recommendations.

"More than 50 per cent of LAs have already claimed this funding and we want the other LAs to claim their funding now."
