Our chair and our chief executive

Yorkshire Forward’s chair and chief executive are both senior figures who represent the region at national and parliamentary levels. They are highly experienced strategists, ultimately responsible for Yorkshire Forward’s perform 

Julie Kenny CBE DL, Chair

 

Julie Kenny CBE DL is managing director of Pyronix Ltd and a director of both Secure Holdings Ltd and the British Security Industry Association. She is also a UK commissioner for employment and skills; sits on the Small Business Forum; and is a member of both the Better Regulation Stakeholder Group and the Administrative Burdens Advisory Board. In our region, Julie serves on the board of Creative Sheffield and is an honorary director of Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce.

 

Thea Stein, chief executive

As Chief Executive, Thea Stein has taken on the challenging role of managing the organisation through to its closure, in March 2012. She is ensuring the Agency continues to deliver its extensive programme of work over the next 18 months, together with public and private sector partners from across Yorkshire and Humber. Thea’s role is also to ensure appropriate support for the developing LEPs in the region and ensure a legacy of economic growth for the region.

Previously occupying the role of  Executive Director of Economic Inclusion  (Employment, Skills and LA authority partnerships) in Yorkshire Forward, Thea has a career history which spans a wide variety of roles within both the health and local authority sectors and is passionate about building an economically inclusive society.  Thea brings  invaluable experience of the unique role of a CEO, as Chief Executive of Leeds North East Primary Care Trust, strong relationships with partners across the region and extensive work with both Scottish and English Government.

In addition to her demanding role as Chief Executive, Thea is also a Trustee of the Princes Trust and has held several non executive positions within housing organisations.
