Raising skill levels in Yorkshire & Humber
Together with our partners from the private, public and voluntary/community sectors across the region, Yorkshire Forward delivers a number of local, sub-regional and regional skills initiatives to meet the challenges we face. We’re working on creating a culture in which learning and skills are highly valued by individuals and businesses; improving educational attainment and vocational skills within the labour market; and increasing the flexibility of the region's workforce.
We focus particularly on improving basic literacy, numeracy, ICT and language skills among adults; skills in demand in our priority-sectors; language skills; and skills in science, engineering, technology and maths.

The West Yorkshire Skills Programme
We’re investing over £14m to help people in West Yorkshire develop the skills they need to be in employment, so that employers in the area can access the skills they need to build sustainable businesses.

Increasing science, technology, engineering and maths skills among young people
We’re investing £9.5m to ensure that our region’s economy can draw on sufficient levels of skills in science, technology, engineering & maths (STEM) for future growth. Find out how we’re investing this sum.
