Yorkshire Forward’s recruitment process

At Yorkshire Forward, we believe recruitment is a two-way process. That’s why our interviews are as much about you assessing our credentials, as it is about giving us the opportunity to learn more about you.

The application, interview & assessment process

Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll contact you by email or post to let you know that it’s arrived safely. Then, judging strictly on merit, we’ll review your application anonymously, comparing your credentials to the job description and person specification.

If you’re shortlisted, we’ll contact you within four weeks with details of your interview. If you don’t hear from us within four weeks it means that your application hasn’t been successful this time.

Interviews at Yorkshire Forward are competency-based, and usually include some form of assessment. It will depend upon the type of role you’ve applied for, but might involve:

  • A presentation
  • A case study
  • Personality profiling
  • Skills testing, for instance, typing tests or numerical ability.

This offers you a practical opportunity to demonstrate your abilities, rather than leaving us to rely solely on an interview. It will also give you an opportunity to experience the type of work expected of you, should you be successful in your application.

Reimbursement of interview expenses

We’ll do our utmost to arrange your interview at a time that enables you to travel cost-effectively. We will only be able to reimburse travel expenses for UK applicants, for second class rail or equivalent, and over five pounds only.

You’ll need to ask for and complete a Yorkshire Forward interview expenses form, and return it to our Human Resources (HR) department together with your travel receipts. We will send you a cheque in return. For further clarification on claiming travel expenses, please contact our HR Department on 0113 394 9915.
