Bid for business relating to the London 2012 Olympic Games

More than 120 businesses from the region have already won contracts relating to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games thanks to brokering site CompeteFor.com.

Among those who have capitalised on the ‘business dating’ website are international names such as Bridon and Portakabin, but the majority of contracts awarded through CompeteFor have gone to small and medium-sized businesses such as Urban Hygiene, from Doncaster, and Lytag, from York.

In fact, around 74% of contracts awarded have been placed with SME businesses and 18% of them have gone to businesses with 10 or less staff.

CompeteFor.com was set up by the UK’s Regional Development Agencies to give the UK’s small and medium-sized businesses the chance to go for contract opportunities arising from the games, and so far.

Hundreds of millions of pounds of contracts are still up for grabs, so if you want your business to be in with a chance of winning work, go to www.competefor.com to register.

Yorkshire Gold Business Club is delivering a series of CompeteFor workshops to help regional businesses maximise their use of the system. For further information, visit www.ygbc.co.uk
