Yorkshire leaders for IoD Awards

Leading business directors from Yorkshire are being considered for the UK Institute of Directors' Director of the Year Award.
The business equivalent of the Oscars is made up of winners from the regional IoD Director of the Year Awards and will consist of business leaders from across the UK competing in seven categories. Winners from each category will aim for the ultimate honour - UK Director of the Year.
Among Yorkshire leaders in the running, chief executive of Sheffield Forgemasters Graham Honeyman has been considered for the global director of the year. Stephen Martin, chief executive of Clugston (construction firm), has been shortlisted for the director of the year (large company).
Balbir Panesar, who is a businessman from PEC Building Services in Bradford, has been nominated for the small and medium company award.
Purnima Tanuku, National Day Nurseries Association, and Suzy Brain England, Community Health Partnerships, have been considered for the public sector director of the year award, whereas EnviroVent leader Nick Heaton is in the running for the environment leader of the year award.
The event, which will take place on October 1 in London, will also include other awards such as the director of the year 2010 and the lifetime achievement award.
