Within this section, you will find a collection of the latest data concerning the economy of Yorkshire & Humber. This is provided to you by Yorkshire Forward's Chief Economist Unit. Our role is:

  • Working with both private and public partners to understand the economic challenges and opportunities facing the region
  • Advising the Yorkshire Forward Board on these issues, and on how well the economy is performing
  • Helping to assess how well we're achieving the Regional Economic Strategy (RES)
  • Developing the evidence base and Monitoring Framework for the new Integrated Regional Strategy (IRS)
  • Ensuring that programmes funded by Yorkshire Forward are underpinned by timely economic intelligence
  • Helping to ensure we're able to collect the economic evidence Yorkshire Forward needs

The Chief Economist Unit produces regular briefings and presentations on the changing nature of the regional and national economy. The Weekly Economic Update provides a timely and concise summary of key developments in the economy alongside company specific information and a summary of major job losses and gains in the region.

Regional Econometric Model

Our Regional Economic Model measures key economic indicators across the region, and offers forecasts for economic performance through to 2026. It informs our strategy, and is also available by subscription to public sector bodies in Yorkshire & Humber.

Business Intelligence

Business Intelligence

Yorkshire Forward regularly collects and tracks information on business sentiment across Yorkshire and Humber. We do this through the six-monthly National Business Survey and more regular snapshot surveys. We also track our top 50 public limited companies, and measure costs that businesses in the region face, such as labour costs, rents and inflation trends.

Find out what’s going on with the labour market in Yorkshire & Humber. We work with leading research groups and policy institutes to track job losses and gains, how skills are developing across the region, and more.
