York forum 'a success'

23/10/2008

A business forum in Yorkshire has been hailed as a success. The first ever York Business Forum was held on October 8th and was run by York city council and professionals from the area.Roger Ranson, assistant director of economic development at city of York council, said: "I've been delighted with the feedback we've received from those who attended the event and I hope that the forum will help to create a renewed partnership approach to developing York's economy."He said that the central focus of the meeting was to provide an informal atmosphere where business men and women from York could share their opinions on how to improve the economic environment in the city. Results from a questionnaire showed that 98 per cent of those who filled it out said they were satisfied with the format of the event, while 50 per cent said they were happy with the forum overall. The forum will now meet between two and three times a year, with a website set up for those wanting to share their opinions online.Last month, the council invited all people, not just those involved with business, to share their views on problems facing the city centre of York as part of the City Centre Area Action Plan.
