National Citizen Service

National Citizen ServiceWhat is National Citizen Service?

If you’re 16, from this summer you could have the chance to take part in National Citizen Service: mixing with people from different backgrounds, learning more about yourself and giving something back. It’s a voluntary programme that includes fun and challenging activities, away-from-home residential experiences and a social action project designed by the young people involved.

How can I get involved?

  • National Citizen Service will take place in various parts of England and will be run by 12 different organisations. There will be around 11,000 places available when the scheme starts in summer 2011, with more places in future years as the scheme grows.
  • To apply, you need to start by checking whether NCS is happening in your area. Once you’ve found the organisation for your area, you can apply through them.
