Returning to teaching

Around 8,000–10,000 former teachers return to the profession each year, bringing with them valuable skills and experience.

Returners include those who have been raising a family, taken early retirement, or gained experience in a different job.

There is a particular demand for secondary teachers with qualifications to teach science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and modern foreign languages (MFL).

The TDA is committed to helping returning teachers in their transition back into the profession, and has recently launched new support for returning teachers.

If you're ready to turn your talent back to teaching, we're here to help.
