Raising standards, improving lives
Under the provisions of the Academies Act 2010 schools may apply to the Secretary of State for Education to convert to academy status. There is a fast-track process for schools which were previously judged outstanding by Ofsted and other well performing schools. The Secretary of State has approved academy conversion with regard to a number of such schools.
Upon conversion to academy status under the Academies Act 2010 the pre-conversion school technically closes and a new academy school replaces it. Although little may appear to have changed at the school, legally it is a new school.
This webpage allows you to view an inspection report for a new academy and for the school that preceded it. Please note that most new academies have not been inspected since their conversion, therefore, the only report available may be that of the pre-conversion school. You may search for the converted academy or the pre-conversion school by using the details of either school.
Note: The search will not recognise the following words if used on their own: Academy, College, School, Primary, Secondary, Infant, Junior, Grammar, 6th Form and Sixth form. This enables the search function to be more specific and reduces the number of irrelevant search results.
