Natural England is here to conserve and enhance the natural environment, for its intrinsic value, the wellbeing and enjoyment of people and the economic prosperity that it brings.

This section explores the conservation of landscape, biodiversity and geodiversity and our marine environment. We describe our work towards a secure environmental future for the natural environment in 2060, including the impact of climate change and meeting increasing energy demands.

We describe the opportunities to enjoy and benefit from a healthy natural environment.

We examine the mechanisms used to protect the natural environment including designated areas, spatial planning, regulation and licensing and support for sympathetic farming and land stewardship.

We also set out our consultations and the research and evidence which underpins our work.
