Natural England - Information for applicants

Information for applicants

Information, guidance and documents associated with the recruitment process.

Application documents

Nationality requirements

Vacancies are open to:

  • EC nationals

  • Members of the Commonwealth, European Area (EEA) and certain non-EEA family members.

Candidates from the Commonwealth must be free from any restrictions to reside and take up employment in the UK.

As part of the selection process for a Natural England vacancy, you will be asked to provide, in confidence, evidence of entitlement to work in the UK and references for your character and health. We will take up these references as appropriate, depending on the progress of your application.

Offers

If you are successful we will make an initial job offer so that we can start to undertake the Government wide Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks. BPSS is a package of pre-employment checks which reflect good recruitment and employment practice.

The BPSS comprises verification of four main elements:

  1. identity;

  2. employment history;

  3. nationality and immigration status (including the right to work); and, if a formal National Security Vetting (NSV) clearance is not required for the post,

  4. unspent criminal records.

In addition, prospective employees are required to account for any significant periods spent abroad. The checks provide us with appropriate level of assurance as to a candidate’s trustworthiness, integrity, and reliability.

They are undertaken for all successful candidates who require access to, or knowledge of, government assets.

These checks can take between 3 to 6 weeks to complete.
