EMRAC believes that the changing climate and range of opportunities emphasised by the Archives Task Force has provided encouragement to refocus on the original aspirations of the Council’s strategy. The purpose of this strategy is to:
- Provide a clear statement of our future aims and objectives
- Focus on the areas where a regional approach may be the only way to achieve our ambitions particularly for audio/visual archives, electronic records management (ERM), digital preservation and the development of National Curriculum resources for schools.
- Position archives as a significant contributor to culture, information and as a driver for social and economic regeneration.
- Demonstrate that real benefit is delivered to users and potential users in the region through creative and innovative regional partnership working particularly with libraries, museums, tourism and arts.
