Shared Services Risk Management

Government cannot afford to duplicate the building or assurance of systems – or to miss the business opportunities that sharing information brings. This stream will help you risk manage the delivery and use of shared services and shared information as efficiently as possible, within your organisation's risk appetite.

Day One:

10:15 - Session One The Business Benefits of good IA in Shared Services. This session will explain the direction of shared services in Government, highlighting the issues and scale of the risk management task. What does effective shared service risk management look like? How to deliver more, save money and potentially take more risk.

11:35 - Session Two Federated Identity Management. This session will explore identity management and will identify the operational benefits and potential cost advantages of a federated identity management approach using examples from existing, planned and potential projects and then identifying what is needed to achieve those benefits across UK Government.

14:00 - Session Three Government Case Studies on Shared Services. The Ministry of Justice has developed several shared services. Learn from their practical experiences about the pitfalls, solutions and benefits of developing effective, pragmatic approaches to solving these problems.

Day Two:

10:15 - Session One Legal & Regulatory Aspects of IA. This session will cover the developing legal and regulatory framework for Information Assurance in the context of Shared Services.

11:25 - Session Two G Cloud & PSN Programmes. Hear how the G Cloud and PSN programmes will work with public sector organizations and the supplier community to manage shared services risks and to deliver a step change in the way in which services are delivered to and consumed by the public sector.

13:45 - Session Three Conclusion and the Way Forward. The final session of this stream will draw together all the subjects raised during the two days through a panel discussion on the way forward for IA Governance and risk management in a shared services environment.
