The decision making body for each inquiry is a group of at least three independent experts, drawn from a wider panel of around 50 appointed members. Members are supported by a specialist staff team on each inquiry. Inquiry groups are usually led by the CC’s Chairman Roger Witcomb or one of the Deputy Chairmen Dr Peter Davis or Laura Carstensen
Members are appointed by Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to the CC for eight years, following open competition. They are selected and appointed for their experience, ability and diversity of skills in competition economics, law, finance and industry. All except the Chairman work part-time for the CC.

This group oversees implementation of any remedial action required
by the CC following an inquiry.
The Finance and Regulation Group
The Competition Commission has established a group of individuals to act in an advisory capacity on regulatory matters including the cost of capital and financeability. These individuals have been selected because of their particular experience in the area.
The Competition Commission has an academic panel of economists to act in an advisory capacity to staff. These individuals have been invited to sit on the panel because of their particular experience and research in the area.
