London conference for Government Procurement Service at Congress Centre on July 12

The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) will hold the second Government Procurement Service (GPS) Regional Conference this year at the Congress Centre in London, on Wednesday, July 12, 2006.

John Healey MP, the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, will deliver the keynote speech at the conference, which is only open to UK public sector procurement professionals.

The conference will:

  • Introduce Public Sector Units as a new part to the professional qualifications, explained by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS);
  • Consider implications of the latest EU procurement regulations, focusing on sustainability and how the Government's Sustainable Procurement Taskforce is changing procurement practice and making the UK a world leader in sustainable procurement by 2009;
  • Reveal how the OGC Gateway™ process is improving complex procurement projects and has saved millions of pounds across hundreds of key projects;
  • Find out about one of the tools that can help to manage the strategic procurement cycle online.
