Met Office view of 0000 UTC surface analysis

A deep area of low pressure lies to the west of the UK, with a complex set of frontal systems moving eastwards across the country, bringing spells of rain followed by showers. High pressure lies to the east, holding fine and dry weather here for a time. Widely-spaced isobars across Europe indicate light and variable winds.
