Planning consultations

Consultations allow members of the public to have their say on London 2012's policies and plans.

From time to time, the organisations delivering London 2012 will want to get your thoughts on programmes, policies or initiatives, as well as planning applications being submitted for developments on the Olympic Park and other venues.

Consultations allow us to get your thoughts and feedback on our work.

Consultations are held before and after planning applications are submitted.

Pre-application consultations

The ODA applies for planning permission from the independent ODA Planning Decisions Team (PDT). Before it does this the ODA holds a consultation to get your views. These are called pre-application consultations.

The PDT processes all planning applications relating to the Olympic Park and other venues. It then makes recommendations to the final independent decision maker - the ODA Planning Committee. In this way, your feedback could influence and form part of the planning submission.

Olympic and Paralympic Route Network
There are currently no formal consultations regarding the Olympic and Paralympic Route Network

However, London 2012 is currently holding drop-in sessions to explain the temporary changes that will operate along the ORN and PRN in the area in Royal Holloway around the Egham Rowing and Canoe Sprint Village, before these changes are implemented. Read more.

Advertising and trading in open spaces at London 2012 Games events

Plans for temporary restrictions to advertising and trading in open spaces directly around the competition venues during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, have been published for consultation by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The consultation sets out proposals on the management of advertising and trading in open spaces within a few hundred metres around the Olympic and Paralympic venues and road race routes. They will apply for a limited time when competition at the venues is taking place. The draft regulations being consulted on are available on the DCMS website and will run until 13 May 2011.

Post-application consultations

After a planning application has been submitted the PDT holds another consultation. These are called post-application consultations.

They involve consultation that the PDT as the planning authority is obliged to carry out as well as other activity such as briefings for local community groups and public 'drop-in' sessions.
