Regional Centres of Excellence

The Regional Centres of Excellence programme concluded on 31 March 2008.

From 1 April 2008, the nine Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEPs), which replace and represent a merger between the Centres of Excellence and their improvement counterparts, went live.

The RIEPs are partnerships of councils and other local service providers working together to deliver excellent Local Area Agreement outcomes, achieve 3% efficiency savings and support economic growth and community empowerment. The foundations laid by the Regional Centres of Excellence, which have helped councils deliver over £4bn in efficiencies, will be integral to the success of the partnerships.

The RIEPs play a crucial role in ensuring that all councils and their partners can access support from a range of programmes and initiatives and in doing so, will provide a place for a single conversation on improvement and efficiency needs.

A new national RIEP website has been created and can be accessed via the link below.

This site will remain live temporarily so you can access its information. However it is advisable to visit individual RIEP sites which hold up to date RIEP information. You can access each RIEP website via the links below.
