Administering the national curriculum tests
Find out about the 2011 test administrators' guide, along with the resources and guidance we have available for test administrators' training.
Key stage 2 test administrators' guide
The 2011 key stage 2 test administrators guide is available to download. This includes information for test administrators on the key stage 2 English and mathematics national curriculum tests, including the instructions that should be read aloud to pupils.
The 2011 Test administrators’ guide should be made available for anyone administering national curriculum tests, including staff recruited specifically for the tests.
Attendance registers
This year, staff involved in the administration of 2011 national curriculum tests should be aware that attendance registers will replace the multi-part marksheets that were used in 2010. Schools need to complete a test status for every pupil for each paper in both subjects
- The English Attendance register has columns for English reading, English shorter writing task and spelling test, and English longer writing task.
- The mathematics Attendance register has columns for mental mathematics, mathematics Test A and mathematics Test B.
Further information can be found in the 2011 Guide to handling test papers and scripts, issued to schools in March 2011.
Test administrators' training
The role of a test administrator is very important. To help schools and local authorities prepare for and administer the national curriculum tests, our test administrators' training material includes a series of videos covering a range of topics - see the left-hand navigation for these.
These training materials may also help independent schools or schools choosing to administer optional tests for years 3, 4, 5 and 7, 8.
Modified test administrators' guides
The Modified test administrators' guides provide guidance on the administration of the key stage 2 English and mathematics national curriculum tests for pupils with hearing and visual impairments.
• The 2011 guides will be available in early 2011.
For more information about ordering modified tests, contact the QCDA modified test agency on 0844 500 6727.
