Assessment and reporting arrangements
Download information on ARA and TARA.
Assessment and reporting arrangements (ARA) and Teacher assessment and reporting arrangements (TARA) contain the statutory information and guidance on all aspects of national curriculum assessment and reporting for key stages 1, 2 and 3. You can download them from the link on the right.
They cover topics such as administering the tests, access arrangements and reporting pupils' achievements to parents. They are updated and sent to schools and local authorities every year.
TARA sets out statutory requirements and provides information and guidance on key stage 3 teacher assessment and reporting arrangements.
Key stage 1 ARA
If you're responsible for assessment and reporting in the Early Years Foundation Stage and key stage 1, it is important that you read the key stage 1 ARA, and are aware of any changes from the previous year.
For further guidance and information on section 4 'Teacher assessment at the end of key stage 1', section 5 'Administering tasks and tests to support teacher assessment' and section 6 'Key dates', please read the 'Further information and guidance' document.
Key stage 2 ARA
If you're responsible for assessment and reporting for pupils throughout and at the end of key stage 2, or are involved with the optional tests for years 3, 4 and 5 pupils, it is important that you read the key stage 2 ARA, and are aware of any changes from the previous year.
Key stage 3 TARA
If you're responsible for teacher assessment and reporting in key stage 3, it is important that you read the key stage 3 TARA, and are aware of any changes from the previous year.
