The Mozilla community produces a lot of great software and acts as an incubator for innovative ideas as a way to advance our mission of building a better Internet.

Mozilla Applications

These applications are developed by the Mozilla community and their code is hosted on mozilla.org.

• SeaMonkey

• Lightning and Sunbird

  Lightning is a popular calendaring, scheduling and task management extension. Sunbird® is a cross-platform application that brings Mozilla-style ease-of-use to your calendar.

• Camino

  Camino® is a Web browser optimized for Mac OS X with a Cocoa user interface, and powerful Gecko layout engine. It's the simple, secure, and fast browser for Mac OS X.

Drumbeat is a community of Mozillians who use web technology in new ways to understand, participate and take control of their online lives.

• Universal Subtitles

  Universal Subtitles is a software project and online community that's building the world's simplest subtitling tool to make captioning video free, fun and open to all.

• WebMadeMovies

  WebMadeMovies is an open video lab and production studio that is bringing together the world's most innovative filmmakers and web developers to show what open video can do.

• Raindrop

Mozilla Technologies

The Mozilla community creates a variety of different technologies that are freely available for other people and organizations to use in their own products.

• Gecko

  Gecko is the layout engine that reads web content, such as HTML, CSS, XUL, and JavaScript and renders it on a user's screen. In XUL-based applications Gecko is used to render the application's user interface as well.

• XULRunner

  XULRunner provides an environment for developers to build XUL-based applications such as Firefox and Thunderbird. It provides mechanisms for installing, upgrading, and uninstalling applications.

Archived Projects

Mozilla has been creating software since the community began in 1998, although some of those projects are no longer being worked on.

• Minimo

  Minimo was an early effort to build a browser for mobile devices. Development stopped on the project in 2007 and soon after the Firefox for Mobile project was started.

• Mozilla Suite

  The Mozilla Suite included the set of applications that were released at the beginning of the Mozilla project. In 2006 development stopped after Mozilla changed focus to the Firefox and Thunderbird projects.
