Leading on Intervention: Professional development modules

The materials in this area are offered to support your facilitation of school-based professional development meetings (PDMs) designed to help schools develop their thinking and practice around inclusion and intervention.

The materials focus on children's progress but need to be tailored to meet the specific needs of the children, staff and school context within which you are working.

Decisions on the use of the materials will depend on the school's development priorities.

Further guidance on planning and structuring professional development modules with a focus on pupil achievement can be accessed from the Improving Schools Programme section of the National Strategies web area.

Before planning any sessions it will be useful to look at the characteristics of effective continuing professional development (CPD) which are described next.
