Operational Delivery

Brief Description

To supervise Forest Management operations within the D&B south-central beat, providing additional support to other operational staff when required.

Vacancy description

Ground Preparation - Includes the laying out of sites and supervision of contract operations to the required environmental and Health & Safety standards

Restock Planting - Includes species selection and maintenance of contract standards, including plant handling, planting quality and Health & Safety

Planning - Assist the Beat Forester with the compilation of annual work programmes including the preparation of workplans and siteplans

Other FM activities - These will include the planning and supervision of other Forest Management related operations such as Beating Up, Top Up Spraying, Weeding, Cleaning etc

Health & Safety - Ensure all operations have the appropriate documentation in relation to Health & Safety including Risk Assesments,site Safety Rules etc. Ensure all sites comply with FCS internal safety standards


Professional & Technical Expertise


Hold a BTEC National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Forestry or related subject

Knowledge of the UK Forestry Standard and The UK Woodland Assurance Scheme

Have a good understanding of Health & Safety practices within the forest industry

A good knowledge and technical competency in operational and environmental standards




Some practical experience in the management of Forest Management operations
