We’re looking for an Environmental Monitoring Officer to support our technical specialist with the co-ordination and delivery of the marine monitoring programme across the South West Region for the Water Framework Directive and other statutory legislation.
The programme includes Salt marsh, Seagrass, Fish and Macroalgae surveys.
The Analysis and Reporting team provides chemical and biological specialist surveys, data analysis and reporting to provide evidence and inform environmental outcomes and decision making. Our evidence and analysis enables the delivery of environmental outcomes meeting Environment Agency statutory and national requirements.
We are seeking someone with both field and office experience. You will be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and possess proven ability and / or knowledge of:
• biological survey techniques;
• project management and good organisational skills;
• competent user of spreadsheets and databases;
• good communication and interpersonal skills;
• competent data analysis and interpretation skills.
The role will cover the South West region and be based at the Exminster office. There will be a requirement to occasionally undertake field work and travel across the region. As a result the post requires a full driving licence.
