The Business Management team acts as a support team for the commercial business of the Met Office. Activities of the team include strategic planning and business management, market intelligence, research expertise, business performance management, customer relationship management and process management.
Managing the market information process and delivering market research projects including the gathering, storing and analysing of market and customer intelligence.
Gather and analyse market and marketing data on customers, competitors and the external environment for business to make best decisions.
Direct external suppliers to deliver projects to brief and on budget to agreed outcomes.
To ensure market research capability is available to all commercial programmes and is maximised to its full potential.
To plan, monitor and control market research budgets with agreed variances.
To communicate information in useable formats to ensure business understanding and decision making.

Gather market and marketing data on customers, competitors and the external environment.
Analyse this data and turn it into information through the production of reports.
Take responsibility for a marketing information system and knowledge sharing methodology to enable Commercial to maximise the use of customer, competitor and external environment knowledge.
Manage the market research programme including (but not exclusively) projects relating to product/service concept testing, price testing, product/service testing whilst in development for business within agreed timescales and budget and ensure that it is carried out to the highest possible standards, in accordance with the Market Research Society’s Code of Conduct. This will involve the development of research briefs with Business Units and Marketing Managers and the management of external agencies.
Market Research experience. This role requires experience of market research, information gathering and analysis techniques. Together with experience of managing market research agencies and constructing effective market research briefs.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
