Brief Description

The OFT makes markets work well for UK consumers. We work in all sectors of the economy using a wide range of powers and legal instruments. As a result of our frontline enforcement, and other complementary work, consumers benefit from improved value, choice, and quality in products and services. The wider economy also thrives as competitive markets encourage greater productivity, growth and innovation by business.

As an Economist Team Leader in the Markets group at the OFT you will lead project work of major importance to the UK economy and its millions of consumers. Recent areas of work include market studies into equity underwriting and outdoor advertising, Competition Act investigations into the tobacco and pharmaceutical markets. Such a wide variety of work makes the OFT an excellent place to deepen your economic expertise and vastly broaden your knowledge and exposure to the economy.
