Brief Description

MI5 safeguards the United Kingdom against threats to national security. Enhancing our IT services is critical in ensuring the business maximises value for money. We are looking for exceptional Solution Architects who are experienced in identifying the best way to solve business challenges through the conception and design of effective and innovative technology solutions.

As a solution architect you will work within a multi-disciplinary solutioning team. Expected to demonstrate experience in the design of enterprise-class IT systems using event, transactional and warehouse patterns you will be an expert in shaping and then assessing delivery options. Ideally your experience will have been gained by using service-based architecture to integrate bespoke, legacy and COTS applications.
 

Vacancy description

With experience of specifying systems using TOGAF-based representations, methods and tools, you will be comfortable using architecture models for applications and EAI within SOA frameworks. You will have demonstrated the ability to deliver architecture roadmaps that provide a multi-year business capability and architecture design.

Establishing and managing relationships across the business and delivery partners, you will be adept at understanding dependencies and constraints while maximising architectural component or service re-use. Used to gaining agreement from a variety of stakeholders, you will be confident in managing business expectations while ensuring technology drivers are met. 
 

This is a fixed term contract for a period of three years.

A confident communicator, you will work within programmes with project teams, contracted delivery partners and Enterprise Architects to ensure solutions remain aligned to EA strategies and the wider business, technical and delivery standards.

Self motivated and passionate about delivering business value through the innovative application of technology, you will enjoy harnessing your expertise in challenging environments.
