Introduction to three reports on gender and achievement in schools, showing that a
positive learning ethos, high expectations, good teaching and classroom
management, close tracking of individual pupils' achievement and
subsequent effective support for learning are all critical in improving
not only boys' performance but the performance of all pupils.
The reports follow on from DCSF's Gender Agenda, launched in spring 2008: 18 months of activity
designed to improve the performance of underperforming boys and girls.
