Behaviour and attendance Core Day training materials

Materials designed for use in core training sessions with teachers. They cover sessions on: Reviewing a behaviour and attendance policy; Implementing a behaviour and attendance policy; Audit for secondary and middle schools; Effective classroom teaching.

Day 2

Materials for four sessions. It is intended that all schools will deliver the first three sessions. Schools can differentiate to meet their needs by selecting the most appropriate tasks and exploring some of the key ideas in the session.
Day 3

Pack of materials for monitoring whole-school practice to promote positive behaviour and attendance.
Day 4

Session 1: Reviewing a policy

Developing effective practice across the school: Introduction

Information for trainers for developing effective practice across the school. Contains four sessions that follow a particular sequence but can be taken out of context and used separately as training units. Session 1 introduces solution-focused approaches, session 2 is related to developing staff skills to support pupils, session 3 is related to creating a positive whole school climate and session 4 provides an introduction to more specific training to meet identified needs from the audit for improving behaviour and attendance. Document is a part of the Key Stage 3 resources.

This session aims to: examine the influences of the school environment on pupil and staff behaviour, attendance and learning; identify how all staff can contribute to creating a positive climate; and build on Core Day 1 materials to demonstrate how improved teaching and learning can promote positive behaviour and regular attendance.
