Briefing for SIPs: School plan annex (SPA)

The School Plan Annex (SPA) is one of the measures introduced under the New Relationship with Schools (NRwS) to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy in schools while retaining accountability. Instead of having to complete lengthy, complex application forms, often duplicating information already held elsewhere, such as school development plans and self-evaluation forms, schools may now complete the annex. This is a simple, electronic form which allows cross referencing to other existing documentation and on which schools will only be expected to provide supplementary information that does not exist anywhere else.

Its current application options include second specialism, training school, leading edge school, leading aspect award and others. It is intended that the annex will be extended to allow applications for other programmes and kite marks as they come on stream.
