The Intensifying Support Programme (ISP) is a school improvement programme designed to raise standards and improve teaching and learning in the context of the school as a professional learning community. The programme was set up to work in partnership with the LEA advisers/inspectors and the school. It is based on the cycle of audit and setting targets, action and review.
Four key themes run through the programme. These are:
- raising standards and accelerating progress
- improving the quality of teaching and learning
- improving the conditions for learning
- developing the school as a professiona learning community.
This publication was developed from the pilot project, which was launched in summer 2002. The materials in this pack are those which were used in the pilot, with additional case studies illustrating the programme in action. Topics covered include:
