Assessment commentary

This short critique of an episode of Hollyoaks has some shape and impact due to its sense of audience and purpose (AF2), the deployment of well-selected points (AF1) and an attempt to link the ending to the opening (AF3), while finishing on a humorous note. There is some variation in the structuring of sentences (AF5), most of which are accurately demarcated (AF6). Limited use is made of paragraphing to organise material (AF4), but the juxtaposing of devices such as ‘Critics say . . . Readers say . . .’ helps to support cohesion. There are very few spelling errors (AF8). Across most of the assessment focuses, the level 5 criteria are being addressed if not confidently fulfilled.
