Application of synthetic phonic knowledge and skills

This writing contains the consonant–vowel–consonant (CVC) word ‘can’, and tricky words ‘the’ and ‘to’. Lewis is not tuning in to all sounds within words yet, for example s-l-ee-p represented as s-i-p and w-e-n-t as w-e-t.

Interpretation

The farmer went to sleep. He said ‘I can sleep.’

Child’s voice

All the animals went quiet, and the farmer went to sleep.
